Recently I found out the great news that my sister is having a baby boy! This news comes in a beautiful season of spring, when the world around me is blooming and creating images of buds, blossoms, and birds. What a beautiful season and very exciting time for my sister and her new husband!
It is really sentimental to me that I see the tree in our backyard starting to bloom flowers because it is a tree we planted when our first son, Ben was born 8 years ago. It was spring then too, and my red tulips were popping in the front yard while I was patiently waiting for my own baby to be born. Those tulips will always be a reminder of my first child being born. Our second child, Lincoln wasn't born until the month of June, and it was as though the tulips were laughing at me during the month of May because it was going to be a lonnngggg wait.
I will be an aunt now! It is something that I will cherish. Especially an aunt to a boy. Boys are everywhere in my life: I have two boys, our church is full of boys running around, and 3 special brothers I had growing up. I am excited to share with my sister the great joys of raising a boy. Boys have those amazing imaginations filled with finding treasures, superhero powers, digging for pirate loot and dinosaur bones. Boys are wonderfully wiggly. "Boys will be boys", I can just hear us now!
